The 10 BEST biohacking nootropics worth trying to make your brain work better:

MIXED
TrustworthinessMixed

The reel presents a mix of accurate and overstated claims about various nootropics. While some supplements like L-tyrosine and caffeine have evidence supporting cognitive benefits, other claims, such as nicotine reversing Alzheimer's, are misleading.

PRO
Detected Supplements (10)
L-Tyrosine
Moderate
L-TyrosineOverstated

L-tyrosine helps your thyroid make more energy because when you have more energy, your brain works better.

L-tyrosine is shown to improve cognitive performance under stress and sleep deprivation, but its role in thyroid energy production is not directly supported.

Acetyl L-Carnitine
IngredientNo evidence data — unverifiable

This ingredient is not in our library. We cannot assess claims about it.

Caffeine
High
CaffeineSupported

Caffeine improves cognitive function and mitochondrial function.

Caffeine is well-supported to improve cognitive performance, particularly attention and reaction time.

Nicotine
IngredientNo evidence data — unverifiable

This ingredient is not in our library. We cannot assess claims about it.

NicotineMisleading

Nicotine has been shown to reverse Alzheimer's disease.

There is no strong evidence that nicotine reverses Alzheimer's disease; its cognitive effects are more related to short-term alertness.

CDP Choline
IngredientNo evidence data — unverifiable

This ingredient is not in our library. We cannot assess claims about it.

Rhodiola Rosea
Low
Rhodiola RoseaOverstated

Rhodiola rosea helps your brain work better.

Evidence for Rhodiola rosea's effects on mental fatigue is limited and variable.

Creatine Monohydrate"Creatine" in reel
Moderate
Creatine MonohydrateSupported

Creatine works amazingly well for brain function.

Creatine may improve short-term memory and reasoning, though effects on other cognitive domains are unclear.

Electrolytes (Sodium / Potassium / Magnesium blend)"Electrolytes" in reel
High
Electrolytes (Sodium / Potassium / Magnesium blend)Supported

Electrolytes hydrate your brain and improve brain function.

Electrolytes help maintain fluid balance, which can support cognitive function, especially in heat.

Lion’s Mane
IngredientNo evidence data — unverifiable

This ingredient is not in our library. We cannot assess claims about it.

Here are 10 biohacking nootropics worth trying to make your brain work better, especially when you're tired or maybe just every single day. One of them is L-tyrosine. It's an amino acid that helps your thyroid make more energy because when you have more energy, your brain works better. Another classic one is called acetyl L-carnitine. Acetyl L-carnitine helps your mitochondria make energy more efficiently, especially when burning fat. It works really well. You could stack it with coffee because caffeine is mother nature's original nootropic and it is awesome. High doses above 400 milligrams you don't need, but a few hundred milligrams are shown in study after study to improve cognitive function and improve mitochondrial function. There's also, and this one's controversial, nicotine. One to three milligrams of nicotine, pharmaceutical nicotine, not smoking, not tobacco, have been shown in studies since 1986 to reverse Alzheimer's disease. You can use a spray if you buy it in Europe, Mexico, or Canada, which is one milligram, 5% of what's in a cigarette, and your brain just lights up. You can use a lozenge or there are some low toxin gums like Lucy gum. There's also citicholine, also known as CDP-choline, that works very well for making a neurotransmitter. There's rhodiola rosea, which is an adaptogenic herb that helps your brain work better. And then there's good old-fashioned creatine, which works amazingly well. And something else that we don't talk about, water with electrolytes. If you have salt, sea salt or salt from a mine, or better yet, a full electrolyte powder, it hydrates your brain and your brain works better. Sometimes that's all it takes to get you back, especially after a long flight. And finally, something I've written about for 10 years is lion's mane. When you get an extract of lion's mane made from hot water and alcohol, it increases something called BDNF, which means you have the neuroplasticity of a young person. You don't have to use all 10 of these, but know that these are tools for you as a biohacker. I had such profound brain fog in my 20s as my career was taking off that I went to see a psychiatrist about it. And we found that there was physical damage to my brain from toxins. I came back from that, but as I was coming back, I used nootropics to get through Wharton Business School. I used nootropics to start my company, and I used nootropics to meditate. They're a part of being a high-performance human being. Enjoy.
