AOD-9604
AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 176–191 of human growth hormone, modified with an N-terminal tyrosine residue to stabilize the fragment. It was designed to preserve hGH's fat-mobilizing (lipolytic) activity — stimulating lipolysis and inhibiting lipogenesis — without activating the IGF-1 pathway responsible for hGH's anabolic and mitogenic effects. Phase II/III clinical trials conducted by Metabolic Pharmaceuticals for obesity did not meet primary efficacy endpoints, and AOD-9604 was never approved as a pharmaceutical in any jurisdiction. Animal studies and early human pharmacokinetic data suggest good tolerability and oral bioavailability, but robust clinical evidence for meaningful body-composition changes in humans is currently absent.

Evidence is from research or clinical settings — does not imply safety outside supervised contexts.
The evidence for AOD-9604 is limited, with low-quality studies showing some potential for fat loss but no significant metabolic improvements. The lack of approval and robust clinical data raises concerns about its effectiveness and safety in humans.
